Hi, I’m Kate, an artist, illustrator, and tutor based in Hertfordshire, UK.
I rediscovered my love of painting during lockdown 2020 which is when I founded my brand, Essoldo Design, named after the converted Art Deco cinema where I was living.
I work mainly in watercolour and much of my work is inspired by nature, from flowers and greenery to gemstones and jewels. I’m obsessed with embellishment, so my work often features a myriad of dots, decorations, and most importantly gold!
Since starting Essoldo Design, I’ve been lucky enough to have built a community of over 150,000 Instagram followers, sold my work in more than 35 countries worldwide, and licensed products across the UK, Europe, and the USA.
Other highlights involved hosting international art retreats across Europe and seeing my first book, Creative Abstract Watercolor, published in Spring 2024.
I’m at my happiest while painting in my home studio, listening to an audiobook and occasionally dipping my paintbrush absentmindedly into my cup of (builders) tea!
