Hi, I’m Kate, an artist, designer, author and tutor based in Hertfordshire, UK.
I rediscovered my love of painting during lockdown 2020 which is when I founded my brand, Essoldo Design, named after the converted Art Deco cinema where I was living.
I work in watercolour and mixed media, and much of my work is inspired by nature, from flowers and greenery to gemstones and jewels. I’m obsessed with embellishment, so my work often features a myriad of dots, decorations, and most importantly gold!
Since starting Essoldo Design, I’ve been lucky enough to have built a supportive community of over 280,000 social media followers, sold my work in more than 35 countries worldwide, and licensed products across the UK, Europe, and the USA.
Other highlights involve hosting international art retreats, designing two fabric collections and becoming a published author. My best selling debut book, Creative Abstract Watercolor has now been published in seven languages. My second book Creative Abstract Mixed Media, was published in 2025 and is currently topping the watercolor book charts.
I’m at my happiest while painting in my home studio, listening to an audiobook and occasionally dipping my paintbrush absentmindedly into my cup of (builders) tea!
